BASIN HIGH SCHOOL BAND

GENERAL INFORMATION

The San Bernardino County Music Educators Association in cooperation with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools is please to announce the 2026 Basin High School County Honor Band. All 9th through 12th grade students involved in their High School band program in the Basin area of San Bernardino County are welcome and encouraged to participate in this year’s activities.This year’s conductor is Dr. John Burdett EdD., conductor of the Azusa Pacific University Wind Ensemble.

Please make sure that students who are interested in participating are able to make ALL rehearsals and the performance before signing up to audition. An audition fee of $10.00 per student will be required for the application and audition process. Students wishing to audition on more than one instrument will be required to pay the $10.00 fee per instrument. Percussionist who audition on mallets and snare will need to pay for each audition. Please indicate BC or TC for euphonium, choose either mallet instrument or non-pitched instrument, or both for percussion.

DIRECTORS: Please send ONE PAYMENT PER SCHOOL in check for or electronically representing the required combined audition fees made out to SBCMEA. Payments can also be made through Zelle. Please do not send your student’s individual checks or cash.

Applications and checks need to be completed and mailed NO LATER THAN Friday, November 21st, 2025.

Students from schools who do not submit audition fees by the mentioned date will not be given and audition time.

1. On your parking website or app, click "Send money with Zelle."
2. Add or select recipient. Search "[email protected]" and it should come up as SBCMEA.
3. Select the exact payment amount. For fees, it is $10 per audition
4. IMPORTANT: In the "Memo (Optional)" field, please indicate your school and which honor group/event.
5. Review and send.
6. SBCMEA is notified.

AUDITION MUSIC

Scales:
Student will be asked to play the 2 major AND 2 minor scales included in the audition music. If a scale is 2 octaves, students can opt to play 1 octave at a reduced score.

The student will be asked to play the chromatic scale provided.

Sight Reading:
Students will be asked to sight-read an excerpt of music selected by the adjudicator.

Percussionists may audition on either mallet or non-pitched percussion. Students wishing to audition for both must register for both and pay the $10 audition fee for each audition ($20 total)
